Parents
While the holidays can foster a sense of joy and wonderment, there are those who suffer with feelings of depression, anxiety, and loneliness during this time of year.
Whether it is because you are not able to gather with friends and family, or the loss of a loved one is felt stronger at Christmastime, there are ways to create hope during the holiday season.
Pray
Remember the true reason for Christmas is to celebrate the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ. Attend church and pray, allowing his light to enter your heart and fill you with the joy of his presence.
Think positive
Try to create a list of things you are grateful for such as your faith, education, family, and friends.
Take a step back
Look at the bigger picture and try to see things from a different perspective.
Get involved
Help others. Volunteer your time at a local organization such as the food bank, humane society, or other charity group.
Get creative
Listen to your favourite music, read an uplifting story, watch your favourite holiday movie as a family - there are many ways you can use your creativity to lift your spirits during the holiday season. Maybe start a new tradition that your family can look forward to every year.

Be patient
When those around you are struggling, remember to be patient.
Talk about it
Sit down as a family and talk about what is causing anxiety, sadness, or sense of loneliness. Sometimes talking about it can help you feel less alone.
Do something together
Go for a walk around the block and take-in all of the Christmas decorations, build a snowman, play a board game, bake a Christmas treat, or just curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and your favourite Christmas story.
